Where Nature and Culture Converge

Shaanxi, where is the starting point of the ancient Silk Road and the hometown of Terracotta-army is an inland province of China with an area of 205.8 thousand square kilometers and a population of 39.5 million. Shaanxi is the geographic center of China, and the geodetic origin and time service center of China are both located in Shaanxi.

During the Han Dynasty over 2000 years ago, Zhang Qian, the first diplomat in Chinese history traveled from Chang’an – the ancient name of Xi’an, to western countries and found the path connecting Asia and Europe, which is the famous Silk Road. This road takes silk, china, and Chinese civilization to the western world and brings about culture and trade exchanges as well as peace and opening-up.

Shaanxi is an important cradle of Chinese nation and culture. In Chinese history,14 dynasties established their capitals in Shaanxi, which has a far-reaching influence on the later generations. This land accommodates over 70 imperial mausoleums in history, of which the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor is the most famous one.

The Terra-cotta warriors and Horses Museum, which is known as the Eighth Wonder of the World, are the guardians of the First Qin Emperor in his afterlife more than 2200 years ago. Each of warriors was sculpted according to the real army soldiers and they all looked very different from each other.

If you take a closer look at those warriors, you may find that each of them was carved in amazing details. Since 1987, the Terra-cotta warriors has been listed as the world cultural heritage by UNESCO,and over 200 heads of states have visited this museum.

The capital city of Shaanxi, Xi’an, was once called Chang’an in the past, enjoying equal fame with Rome, Cairo and Athens as one of the world’s four major ancient civilization capitals. It is also the most important ancient capital of China.

The Great Tang Ever Bright City, which is located at the foot of the Big Wild Goose Pogoda, restores the culture of the Great Tang Dynasty and has already become a landmark street in Xi’an.
