413 years ago, Xu Xiake departed from the West Gate of Ninghai, measuring the earth with his footsteps and documenting the mountains and rivers with his words, embarking on an epic journey that has been celebrated throughout history.

Since 2011, 19 May has been designated as ‘China Tourism Day’ to commemorate the exact date in 1613 when Xu Xiake began his inaugural expedition.
