Macao’s Community Culture Arrives in London: Macao Government Tourism Office Actively Expands International Market Reach

The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), in collaboration with Macao artists and cultural and arts groups, hosted a Macao tourism promotion event in London, UK, on 6th March 2026, combining cultural creativity with community vitality.

Joining forces with representatives from the Macao tourism industry, the event introduced the latest tourism elements to over 100 local travel partners and media, while promoting “multi-destination” itinerary products, aimed at further expanding the European source market.

Collaborating with Local Arts Groups and Artists to Promote Macao’s Community Cultural Tourism

This promotion event was supported by the China National Tourist Office (CNTO) London. In addition to introducing the latest travel information, the event also invited several guests to share their insights:

  • Pal LOK Chok: Head of the Macao cultural and arts group “Myland Culture,” who shared practical projects integrating Macao’s cultural heritage, community life, and art.
  • Filipe Dores: A Macao artist and food and beverage representative, who discussed how to transform Macao’s daily tea culture into contemporary artistic and cultural practices.
  • Art Exhibition: The event featured an on-site exhibition of Filipe Dores’ artwork, Timeless Voyage, which explores Macao as a crucial node on the Maritime Silk Road.

Furthermore, the promotion incorporated cultural and creative elements, including serving a special “MACAO” cocktail, distributing MGTO x “Myland Culture” local daily life lucky bag souvenirs, and displaying limited-edition artworks by the artist, aiming to promote Macao’s traditional markets and community cultural tourism to the local industry and visitors.

Encouraging the Industry to Utilise Facilitation Measures to Foster Cooperation

Guests including Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), and Zhang Li, Director of CNTO London, attended the event. The promotion built a communication platform for the Macao and UK travel industries to jointly explore the development of tourism products, laying a solid foundation for expanding into the UK and European markets.

Director of MGTO,  Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes noted in her speech:

  • Since February this year, the 30-day visa-free entry policy to China for UK travellers has been officially implemented, creating more convenient conditions for multi-destination travel connecting Macao, the Chinese Mainland, and the Greater Bay Area.
  • MGTO hope that the vitality of ‘Tourism + Community + Culture’ will attract potential tourists, and we look forward to working with the UK industry to jointly develop more unique tourism products tailored to this market.

Director Zhang Li stated:

  • CNTO London will take the promotion of Macao tourism as its responsibility, utilising the unilateral visa-free policy to build a bridge for communication.
  • CNTO London will assist in attracting more overseas tourists to the Greater Bay Area for travel, business, and study tours, supporting Macao’s long-term prosperity and stability.

Popular UK Influencer Promotes “Multi-Destination” Travel

MGTO specially invited British content creator Harry Jaggard, who boasts 9.5 million followers across various platforms. At the promotion, he shared his experience filming in Macao, Hong Kong, and Shenzhen in February this year, recounting his “multi-destination” travel experience from a first-person perspective and introducing the visa-free policy.

The relevant promotional videos will be published on his social media platforms, leveraging his massive traffic to enhance Macao’s profile in the UK.

Making Every Effort to Expand the European Market

This year, Macao was recommended as the “Preferred Destination 2026” by the Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (APAVT). Since the beginning of the year, MGTO has actively rolled out promotional campaigns in Europe, consecutively participating in:

  • January: The International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in Spain
  • February: The “os Especialistas” roadshow and the Lisbon Tourism Exchange (BTL) in Portugal
  • March: ITB Berlin in Germany
